Our team
The clinical staff currently consists of five veterinarians, one of whom is a Specialist in Equine Surgery (Diplomate of the European College, Dip. ECVS).
Direction
Director, Full Professor, Department of Veterinary Clinics, ICBAS.
Graduated in Veterinary Medicine and Doctorate in Veterinary Sciences from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FMV), University of Lisbon (UTL). She is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinics at the University of Porto. She is a member of the Scientific and Representative Council, director of the PhD Program in Veterinary Sciences at ICBAS, scientific coordinator of the Regenerative Medicine/Experimental Surgery subunit at the Animal Science Research Center, Institute of Science, Technology, and Environment (CECA-ICETA), University of Porto, and of the Comparative and Translational Medicine and Biotechnology subunit at the Associated Laboratory of Animal and Veterinary Science (AL4AnimalS). Over the last 15 years, she has led a multidisciplinary research group in experimental surgery/regenerative medicine, developing biomaterials and cell therapies.

Graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FMV), University of Lisbon (UTL). She obtained a PhD in Veterinary Sciences from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS), University of Porto (UP) in 2012. Her research has focused on the Institute of Science and Agro-food Technologies (ICETA) of the Animal Science Research Center (CECA), in the area of emerging Parasitic Pathologies in livestock species. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinics. She is responsible for supervising Integrated Master’s degrees in Veterinary Medicine. Invited speaker at various conferences. Member of the scientific committee of several congresses. Participation in various national and international congresses. She develops activities as Director of the Veterinary Clinical and Research Center of Vairão at UP-ICBAS, member of the Scientific Committee of the Integrated Master’s in Veterinary Medicine at ICBAS, member of the Department of Veterinary Clinics Board, and responsible for the Animal Welfare Organization at UP-ICBAS (ORBEA).

Graduated in Veterinary Sciences from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (1998). He obtained his PhD in Veterinary Sciences from ICBAS – University of Porto, where he conducts research in the areas of experimental surgery, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. He is currently an Assistant Professor at ICBAS, where he has been working since 2001, and is part of the Department of Veterinary Clinics. He is responsible for supervising and co-supervising numerous Master’s theses and Doctoral dissertations in Veterinary Sciences. Author and co-author of several papers in the fields of experimental surgery, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine, as well as in equine medicine, surgery, and reproduction. Invited speaker at various conferences. Member of the scientific committee of several congresses. Participant in numerous national and international congresses.

Veterinary Doctor, graduated from the University of Évora. Her passion for Veterinary Medicine began early, but her connection to the world of horses started at university and became certain after a period of internship in France. During this time, she worked at renowned equine hospitals: Clinique Equine de Meslay, École Nationale Vétérinaire d’Alfort, and CIRALE (Centre d’Imagerie et de recherche sur les affections locomotrices equines). She then completed an internship at Dierenkliniek De Morette in Belgium, where she later began her residency. After 15 months in Belgium, she returned to Portugal and joined the CCEV team. Her main interests are Internal Medicine, Neonatology, Anesthesiology, and Parasitology.

Veterinary Doctor, PhD student in Veterinary Sciences at the University of Porto, with internships in equine reproduction and clinic in Germany, Spain, and Portugal. She worked for 2 years at the KI Hof ter Leeuwe embryo transfer center in Belgium, and later worked for 4 years in southern Portugal in equine reproduction and clinic. She is a member of the CRAV and CCEV teams.

She graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 2019 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Lisbon. She started her professional experience at SCUE (Equine Surgery and Emergency Service) at the university where she studied. She then moved to the United Kingdom, where she completed a second internship at Newmarket Equine Hospital, followed by a year of ambulatory experience at an equine clinic in Lincolnshire (Tower Equine). She has a special interest in surgery, having started her residency in November 2022 in Israel, before returning to Portugal.

Veterinary Surgeon, Specialist of the European College of Veterinary Surgery (ECVS® – EUROPEAN COLLEGE OF VETERINARY SURGEONS). She has 13 years of professional experience in the areas of surgery, sports medicine, anesthesia, and internal medicine.

Veterinary Surgeon, graduated in 2022 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Lisbon. Her passion for equine practice developed from her involvement with the Equine Surgery and Emergency Service (SCUE) at the university where she studied. After completing her degree, she worked for 6 months in equine practice on an ambulatory basis, before returning to SCUE to undertake an Internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery. She also completed an internship in the field of Reproduction and later joined the CCEV team. Her main areas of interest are Internal Medicine and Imaging.
